In less than 3 weeks........

my little girl starts Kindergarten....I'm freaking out a little about it too...I'm going to be a mess the day she starts! I'll probably stalk the school! =) I can tell just in the past couple days that she's older (or at least acts older). She pretty much demands on picking out her own clothes though most of the time it doesn't match or she wants to wear a long sleeve shirt in 100+ degree weather. =)

The first one just melts my heart....I'm not sure why but when I opened it up and started to cry. I'm an emotional mess lately (and no, I'm not preggo)...I thought I'd enjoy her starting school with all the free time and none of "mommy, play with me...or get me a drink, or I want a snack" every 5 minutes. She's pretty much been attached at my hip for the last 5 years and now I won't have her for 6 hours a day/5 days a week.

OK, buck up Brenda.....thanks for hearing my pity party story! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Hugs!

Wow! 6 hrs a day, that will be hard. When Jenna started Kindergarden last year, I was so sad and lost(don't worry it goes away!)but she only went 1/2 day here. This year will be hard for me, she will be gone all day :(

I love the B&W....the tights are so cute!!

Ohh, girl I can so relate..Jacks doesn't start until next year, but I am already starting to get sad. I keep saying, this is my last year with you before you start school, and he just looks at me like I have two heads! :)

That second photograph of her looking in the closet is simply divine...Love it. :)

I think this means you are normal. I don't know any mom that doesn't feel emotional before their child starts kindergarten. I'll be there next year w/ my bucket of tears! Hang in there!

Oh sigh...going through the same thing here, but it's made a world of difference for the little guy. You will get through it. Be strong.

Oh Brenda. I know what you are going through. I didn't have a hard time with kindergarten because Jarom's was only 2 hours and 20 minutes long. But when he started first grade, I was a MESS! A big one. For a week, I'd bawl every day after I dropped him off. I'd hang out by the fence at recess. It was bad! I'll be thinking about you. I love the pictures - especially the closet one!!

Brenda...I feel weird posting on your personal blog, but I love seeing your pictures!

When my ds started Kindergarten, they read a book called "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn. You should read it with Gracie. My ds's teacher asked the parents to stay on the first day of school while she read it to the class. I was a blubbering fool - crying my eyes out during story time!

Good luck to you and Gracie with your Kindergarten adventure!

Awwee Brenda,
You are such a wonderful Mother. I remember those days, it was pre-school (I was a mess), then the first dance recital (I was a mess). It is sometimes so hard to watch your children grow, there are times you want them to stay little forever, and times you want them to grow faster! I'm sure it will be hard for the both of you at the start- but at the same time make the time you have together, that much more important!!
Have a great one!!!
Tina

Oh Brenda, I know how you feel about the whole kindergarten experience. Garrett started last year and now this year I loose Christian too! It is so hard at first (yes I cried), but it gets easier after a few weeks. Especially when you get to hear how excited they are about school. Gracie is going to have so much fun. Maybe volunteer to help in her classroom? I loved going in a seeing how Garrett did in school and it really did help to see how much he loved it.
As far as the photos, awesome as usual! Love the one of her looking up into her closet.

Aw, these pictures are so sweet. I especially love the one of Grace in her closet.

It is hard when they head out that door for a new adventure... my son did it last year. Your going to enjoy so many of her firsts and excitement over all the new things she'll be learning, hopefully the sadness will be quickly fading.

Good luck, and great job of course.

Thank you everyone for your support...I know she will LOVE it and that's all that counts. =)

Michelle,
Yep, it's a full day here, I thought that was weird too...I remember coming home at lunch when I was little....a VERY VERY LONG TIME AGO! =)

Julie,
Thank you so much.....I think I might hang that one in her room! =)

Amber,
Thank you sweetie! I know one thing for sure...Jacks is going to be the teacher's pet! He's soo soo sweet! =)

Jill,
That's good to know....sometimes I wonder about myself! LOL!! =)

Tara,
I'm in Texas...I think that's the norm around here. Less than 3 hours....WOW!

Nadia,
I know she'll enjoy it so much....and making new friends. I just need to bite the bullet and be happy for her! =)

Holly,
I had to laugh...I'll probably do the same thing, just to make sure she was OK....hopefully I won't be the only one there! Oh and if I see no one is playing with her...I'll probably jump the fence! I do think if she saw me, she'd probably ignore me....now that would make me cry!

Kimberli,
Don't feel weird...I love to get everyone's input and advice...that's why I started it really! =) I use to work at a Mommy's Day Out program and we did that the first day of school and did their handprints too...it's giving me chills just thinking about it. We actually have something called a "Boo-Hoo" breakfast the first day that we get to eat with them, but if they did the kissing hand, I'd look like such a fool...kleenex please! =)

Cool Sharon...I'll check it out! And it's nice to know that Gracie isn't the only one with some wacky fashion sense, but one thing is for sure...it' makes for great photos. =)

Oh Tina....her first dance! Good Lord! Be prepared to get a bunch of emails from me...I'll need support! =)

Leah,
Thanks sweetie! It's so nice to hearing everyone kinda went through the same thing. =)

Christie,
Thank you too....you and everyone else are so sweet to support me in my time of despair....just kidding! =)

Hey Brenda, hang in there. A few tears shed on the first day is a requirement of us moms, I think. Just be sure to wear waterproof mascara!

When my daughter (who will now be a big 2nd grader...) started Kindergarten, I was worried about how she would do. She was so excited & told me everything would be okay. Then off she ran to make new friends.

Gracie will do great & just think of all of the great pics you'll be able to get now of her & her new friends!

Gracie called me today and asked me to call and tell you to not be sad. She said that mom has prepaired me for this and I am looking forward to it. It is time for me to start growing up. She said she loved you. Dad

Im a lurker, but had to comment. My little girl starts K this year too. It's only a couple hours a day though...but still heartbreaking at times. On other days, when mine is also throwing fits in the bath...Im ready to scoot her off that moment.
